It was my favourite one.

Last weekend the Auckland Zinefest was on. I missed it, which made me sad because I really love publications. But now I am no longer sad, because I just found this awesome website called Nieves.
An independent publishing house founded in 2001 and based in Zurich, Switzerland. Nieves focus is on publishing Books and Zines.
As well as their flagship store in Zurich they also have an online store where you can choose from their huge catalogue of publications, there are so many it will definitely be hard choosing which ones to get.

It won't happen overnight, but it will happen.

I love anything done in extreme detail with pen and ink, so you can see why I love these drawings by London based illustrator Mr Bingo.
A better version of NWs name that celeb baby, the drawings challenge you to recognize the famous mops.
Can you guess?

Impress me.

It's been a while since my last post, but I'll try to make up for it.
Grain and Gram is the new gentleman’s journal, or at least that’s what it calls itself. The new website is all about the cool, cool photos, cool people and cool design.
Have a look at this video of Nick Sambrato a young guy with old school letter press skills. He's also a bit of a babe.

Out on the wiley windy Moors

I really love these looks from french fashion designer Vanessa Bruno. They are so soft and feminine but yet, also kind of rugged and tough. Kind of a Heathcliff meets Catherine look a la Wuthering Heights.
Perfect for Winter I think.

Also I Love the fact that Vanessa Bruno has teamed up with Lou Doillon to create this beautiful video for the collection.

These boots were made for walking.

I love shoes, unfortunately though I am cursed with proportional gigantic feet to match my 6ft tall frame so finding shoes of any kind is never easy. Most of the time it's look, and dream of one day fitting.
I would love a new pair of boots this winter, if I had the tiny feet I dream of these are the boots I would get.

To slow for words.

My internet is going slow, I feel like kicking someone. I won't though.
Here is a picture of Ernest Hemingway kicking a can instead.

Fun fact.

I just found out that I share my name with Barack Obamas dads first wife. It turns out he was quite the fillanderer/ladies man he had five wives all together.

Colour my world.

In a few months I am leaving New Zealand to experience the big wide world so I have been doing quite a bit of research into places to stay, I'm going to Asia and India so this doesn't really apply to me but if your planning on going to Brussels it does!
Colour experts Pantone, have recently opened up a Hotel located in the heart of brussels. "The Hotel of colours" designed by Belgian interior designer Michel Penneman and architect Oliver Hannaert feature 59 rooms and suites each decorated with one of seven different Pantone colour palettes.

I would love one of those bicycles.

Up, up, up.

UP THERE from Jon on Vimeo.

I love this short documentry on the billboard painters of New York who hand paint huge billboards all over NYC. I saw some amazing ones done for marc Jacobs when I was New York a couple of years ago.

I only wish, all advertising was done like this.

Let's make a promise.

I just finished watching the Darjeeling Limited again, I love it. I am going to India soon, so watching the movie movie made me really excited about it.
I really love Wes Anderson, he and his movies are just so stylish and cool.
I cry and yell every time they throw away their Marc Jacobs luggage at the end of the movie though.

Also Adrien Brody is a babe.

Gentlewoman of Bacongo

Lately Ive been making a concentrated effort to integrate patterns and colour into my wardrobe, I wear far to much black! Which is why I love these looks from Paul Smith they remind some of the 'Sapeurs' the elegantly dressed men from the Congo which were photographed in the book Gentlemen of Bacongo by Daniele Tamagni.
Upon further research I have discovered this line was in fact inspired by the images in the book and that the Pink suit number was actually a reproduction of the books cover.

Bruce Mason Kwassa, Kwassa.

I'm running on such a high right now, I have just returned from seeing Vampire Weekend in concert at the Bruce Mason Centre and it was AMAZING they rocked, it was just such a fun gig.
I've never before in my life seen a group of guys that made the Snean look, look so good.
Here is an outfit inspired by the boys of Vampire weekend.

My favourite kind of egg used to be poached now it's BOYeld.

I actually hate boiled eggs but I went and saw Boy last night and really enjoyed it. At least, I enjoyed it enough to make a lame joke out of it.

I love it when you call me big pop-pa.

I'm a big fan of sleeping in, so thats usually where you'll find me on a Saturday morning fast asleep in bed. Last weekend however I was headed up to my batch so I got up bright early for a change, and braved the day outside... well more the day in my car than outside.
Anyway I was all ready to plug my Ipod into my car stereo when I heard the mother of all mash-up's on the radio. Can you say The xx and Notorious B.I.G? Yes it's true San Fransiscan DJ Wait What has Remixed The xx's entire debut album XX with a selection of Biggie greats and it's suprisingly good.
The album was orriginally available for free download off Wait Whats website but has since been removed because of copy wright issues but you can still download it here.

Can I be your friend?

About two years ago I spent about four months working in a summer camp in the states. As well as all the friends and amazing experiences I came away with (gag i know but it's true) I also left camp with a new skill. Im still not quite sure what the correct terminoligy is for my new skill is but in layman's terms, Im now a bad-ass friendship bracelet maker.
When you're at camp it's all about how many bracelets you have, your contantly making them and developing your skills as a bracelet maker. Needless to say I became quite skilled at the craft of bracelet making.... Ok so thats a lie but I totally would have if I had the patience and attention span to see it through, I still have bad-ass skills but im just a bit to useless to put them to good use.
Someome who did put here skills to good use though is Kate Miss, a New York City native she has created these beautiful woven necklaces which she says were inspired by the friendship bracelets of her childhood.
You can purchase your very own here but be quick, she only makes a limited number at the beginning of each season so you can be sure they sell out quick.

Two Words. House Porn.

Ohhhh so excited, while walking back to my car after getting my regular afternoon coffee yesterday I saw in the window of Flotsam and Jetsom the new book from Tom Selby, creator of The Selby blog.  The book features photo fav's from the blog as well as never before seen images and of course his ever entertaining annotations.

This is a Preview of the book but it's nothing like holding the real deal in your hands, so I think you should just go and buy your very own copy from Flotsam and Jetsom on Richmond road right now! It's $75 and toatally worth it.

Oh so cosy.

One of the only things I love about winter is being snuggled up in bed while it's raining outside. It just rained for a tiny second and Im in bed. It was pretty good.

I heart my sources.
